How
do I prepare for a career in the Nursery and Landscape Industry?
There
are a number of steps you can take to acquire the education and
the experience necessary for a career in the industry.
Education
- High
School: take classes in science, math, and communications
- Career/Technical
Schools: many classes are available for high school students interested
in the industry
- Post-Secondary: two and four year horticulture programs are offered at many colleges
and universities
- Continuing
Education: seminars, short courses, and other educational opportunities
are frequently offered throughout the state of Ohio
Experience
- Take
a full or part-time job while still in school to acquire both experience
and income
- Investigate
internships to acquire credit toward a degree as well as income
and experience
