ONLA's
Landscape Laws That Work
The
Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association (ONLA) is proud to
sponsor the educational program "Landscape Laws That Work."
ONLA, with the assistance of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources,
Division of Forestry, developed "Landscape Laws That Work" to
assist Ohio communities in planning and managing their urban and
suburban landscapes to accommodate multiple societal needs and uses:
economic, aesthetic, ecological, cultural, and recreational.
"Landscape Laws That Work" is
geared for community leaders, and addresses the benefits that a
landscape ordinance can bring to
a community:
- enhanced
quality of life
- increased
property values
- promotion
of community identity
- preservation
of vegetation and wildlife
- maintenance
of air and water quality
- control
of drainage
- prevention
of erosion
"Landscape Laws That Work" will
indicate that:
- economic
development & natural
resource preservation need not be incompatible objectives
- quality
of life is enhanced by understanding different forms of landscape
activity and using long-term planning to direct
those activities
- healthy
natural systems support healthy economies and vibrant communities
